This week is National Lutheran Schools Week....as a school we take on the task of “Raising Faithful Disciples.’  Because of our calling, Jesus asks us to share this faith.  It is our primary purpose in life to go and make disciples for Him.  The family of God realizes how special and significant it is to be faithful to this calling and opportunity to share the Good News of God’s love and His plan of salvation.  We also have an opportunity to participate in Spirit Week with our cheerleaders and basketball teams.  If you have the opportunity, go out and cheer our boys and girls teams to victory.  Good luck, Chargers,...go reckless, play loose, and have fun!!!!

 I am also trying to do my best with the 8th graders and to get something accomplished with them before starting our research papers.  I am starting 1 or 2 days earlier than normal to update them on the changes to the MLA format that is now being used.  A major syllabus should be coming home with your children on February 6th.  Please pray for no more delays or cancellations.  We desperately need to get back to a normal routine.

During the next couple weeks in English, I will be doing some practice writing tests with the 6th and 7th graders for ISTEP preparation. The 8th graders will be starting the research papers so no time.

Friday....beginning a major writing assignment on a president.....purpose to prepare for ISTEP tests.....7 or 8 paragraphs on the president selected....most of the work begins on Monday...will draw today for which president will be assigned to each student......

Wow!  Can you believe two hour delays or no school for almost 1 entire week?  That has not happened since the 1980s if my memory serves me correctly.  That will definitely create some changes for this week.  This schedule of homework will be affected because the spelling bee scheduled for last Friday will probably now be held on Monday.  Chapel will be on Thursday this week instead of Wednesday. We have a guest speaker from Phil's friends. They help cancer patients and families. There will be slight changes to this so please check the planners each day…..thank you!!!!

I would like to say a special thank you to my homeroom mothers for all the hard work in preparing our gifts for our Adopted Family this year.  Also, thanks so much for the food preparation and for bringing in the treats for our homeroom  Christmas party....yummy!!!!

Thanks also for the gifts from my homeroom, students from 6G, 6S, 7P, 8S, and finally 8W.  The gifts were all so wonderful and enjoyed.  I definitely enjoyed all the homemade cookies and candies.  My doctor probably will say that I enjoyed them all too much!!!!  I feel so blessed by my students and families.  You were so generous in your cards and Christmas gifts.  I am deeply moved and thankful for all of you and my ministry here at CLS.
